July 22, 2013

I have just returned to Mother's Garden after five remarkable days in South Carolina where, at Furman University, the yearly Sri Aurobindo Integral Yoga Retreat is held.  this year I can state unequivocally that it was the most uplifting and soul inspiring retreat I have ever attended.  the Presence of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo was felt individually and collectively, and I feel that after all the retreats that have been held in the same rooms, the walls have imbibed and radiate with the Force and Grace of the Divine Presence.

The Retreat is packed with programs - presentations, classes in asanas and pranayama, talks on multifaceted subjects on the Integral Yoga, Garden Walks with discussions about nature and the Spiritual Significances of Flowers given by Mother, OM Choirs and informal late night gatherings on aspects of the Integral Yoga.

The day opens with a choice of going to the asana class or the flower walk,.  These begin at 6:30 A.M. and throughout the day there are numerous talks ending at 10:00 P.M. and later!

After check-in and registration on the first day there is a dinner and then at 8:00 P.M. the Welcome Remarks followed by a reading from Savitri.  This day, July 17, 2013, there were also quotes from the Mother on Sri Aurobindo.  Following this was a collective meditation with Sunil's music and Mother's reading of a passage from Savitri.

This was followed by an OM Choir.  It would not be quite correct to say one was not prepared for such transcendent beauty to descend, after participating in hundreds of OM Choirs throughout the world, but still one is so deeply touched when new voices join who have not participated in previous

OM Choirs and yet are one-souled in the aspiration that calls down the New Music, a music of healing and transformation through the power of OM.

After the OM Choir Dr. Alok Pandey spoke on the "Art of Communication in Integral Yoga" and, knowing that we talk too much, most were silent as his talk ended after 10:00 P.M.
